APC Registration With INEC To Be Rejected

There is a strong indication from INEC that the Application for Registration from the Merging parties, ACN, ANPP and CPC will not be approved, as the group may not have met with the constitutional requirement for registration of a Political Party in Nigeria.

The yet-to-be registered All Progressives Congress (APC) formally submitted their Application on the 7th of June, 2013 and on verification, INEC discovered that APC did not or forgot to furnish the commission with the addresses of their National officers, a part of the requirements for registration by Section 222(a) of the 1999 Constitution as amended.

It should be noted that this was the same reason INEC rejected registration Application from the African Peoples Congress (APC), another group in contention for the APC acronym, about 3 months ago.

INEC sources revealed yesterday, that the application for registration by the merging group did not come with names and addresses of their National officers.

They claimed that the application was signed by only the National Chairmen, Secretaries and Treasurers of the merging political parties.
